Adam and John met in 1992 when Adam and his family moved in just down the road from John. Even though Adam was in a grade below John they quickly became friends riding bikes and exploring the local woods etc. Adam became friends with Ned at school and subsequently so did John. At the time Adam was already well versed in guitar playing for a kid his age. Adam became even more proficient over the next couple years as the trio grew up together as best friends. Some time probably around 1996 they tried playing music together (Adam's father was a musician and had a lot of musical equipment laying around begging to used) with Ned playing drums, and John playing bass. Ned and John, not having any formal training on those instruments eeked their way through some Ramones covers. This may have happened one or two times after that but Ned & John, not having access to those instruments all the time, didn't really progress in playing ability. Cut to 1997. John is now in high school and Adam and Ned are wrapping up middle school. Adam and some other kids decide to play the 8th grade talent show and Ned tried playing the bass. He picks it up pretty quickly and he and Adam continue to jam together with Ned taking serious interest in the instrument. Part way through Adam's freshman year of high school his family moved to East Stroudsburg PA. Most weekends Ned and John would go visit Adam and they would hang out and mess around playing music. On a couple occasions John (to mixed results) tried to fill the void by doing vocals on some Ramones and Jane's Addiction covers with them. As Adam and Ned became a more cohesive musical unit Adam suggested that John learn the drums. John didn't know if he could do it but was willing to give it a try. It started with Adam showing him the most basic of rock beats using only a snare and bass drum. They didn't even have drum sticks at the time and instead held screwdrivers backwards using the handles as sticks. John slowly got his head around this and was able to pick up more and more little by little. He loved doing it but wished to be better. The real game changer was sometime in 1998 when Adam's dad lent a spare drum kit to John. That way he was able to practice all the time. They were now a band.
